S.I.T.A. existing on the market since 1982, has throughout the years become a leader company in the planning and construction of UV systems and filters in stainless steel. A dynamic company, SITA boasts a very wide range of products, capable to satisfy the most different exigencies of both civil and industrial users, addressing it both to the Italian and to the foreign market: SITA production, in a continuous evolution and expansion, is the result of professionalism and strong synergy on its whole staff's side.

The range of competences, acquired in the field of waters destined to human consumption and process ones, make SITA a reference company in this field, being able to offer, among other things, personalized equipments and moreover sizing and studies of feasibility for customized products.

All the production is wholly realized in Genoa where S.I.T.A. has its administrative offices, the carpentry department and the electronic laboratory with three separate premises.


Our range of UV sterilizers is able to satisfy all the exigencies of flow-rate (standard included between 5 l/m and 1.400 m3/h) and of construction. The most common applications for S.I.T.A. are the treatment of primary waters, the disinfection in swimming pools, applications with sea water, hot water, water-culture, systems for alimentary and pharmaceutical use, waste water with closed chambers, reduction of ozone. The lamps used are all of European or American production and are of three kinds: low pressure, low pressure amalgam and medium pressure. Only in the last years, S.I.T.A. has manufactured about 35.000 UV installations and 5.000 filters.


Our range of filters is able to hold from 3 to 80 cartridges in a one container. Also for these systems S.I.T.A. works in close contact with its customers for the construction of systems which are more and more suitable to particular exigencies.

WHAT ARE UV-C RAYS

The small part of electro-magnetic spectrum having wave lengths included between 100 and 400 nm (thousandths of micron) is defined as space of the ultra-violet irradiation. The UV-C are part of the subspace characterized by the wave lengths included between 100 and 280 nm. Electro-magnetic waves with different wave length and width induce interactions with the matter of different nature, the UV-C irradiation with l= 254nm is particularly interesting thanks to its marked germicidal power.

WHY DO THEY WORKS

The high germicidal power of this wave length must be sought in DNA and in the link of its fundamental components (nucleotides). DNA is a macromolecule present in all living organisms in which all information necessary for life and reproduction reside. The alteration, induced by the UV-C irradiation, of some chemical links present among nucleotides is able to change the information contained and conveyed by DNA, these alterations prevent its normal activity and this irreversibly leads to the cellular death.

HOW MUCH DO THEY WORK

For being effective in the disinfection, an electro-magnetic wave, besides being of a certain kind (L = 254nm) it must possess also a minimum value of intensity to be able to ensure a minimum dose to water. A UV sterilizer, if correctly sized, is able to give water a dose sufficient for reducing almost all the commonest micro-organisms present in water. Normally a UV disinfection system must have a UV dose higher than 300 J/m2

HOW THEY ARE PRODUCED

In nature the UV-C rays are part of the secondary cosmic irradiation which, interacting with the high strata of the terrestrial atmosphere, generates ozone and with a lower energy, it reaches ground as tanning UV(A+B) irradiation. Artificially UV-C rays are produced with the help of special fluorescent lamps containing mercury fumes, these lamps are made of a very pure quartz (>99.99% SiO2) transparent to the UV-C light which they emit in an almost monochromatic form (>95% of Ć = 254nm).

SMP - Medium Pressure UV-C systems:   Thanks to the higher power emitted by the medium pressure lamps, SITA MEDIUM PRESSURE systems can treat large quantities of water with a modest number of lamps. Medium pressure UV lamps have a multi-spectrum wavelength, for this reason SITA SMP unit has the ability to break chemical bonds, and have a good reduction of unwanted chemicals in water. This Photolysis process has a lot of application in pools (reduction of combined chlorine) and process water (de-chlorination, de-ozonation, TOC reduction) These UV system may find useful application also as a post-treatment of waste water.

  1. AM – Low pressure Amalgam UV-C systems: Main feature of SITA AM series is the powerful low pressure amalgam lamp. Every system is able to treat a good flow rate using few lamps, reducing maintenance cost and time. A very good flow circulation is guaranteed by special mixing plates and it is verified by our CFD software. This permits a very good disinfection also with low UV Transmittance values. The "L" shape configuration is suitable to use the full UV lamp's length and gives the possibilities to mount the UV unit both horizontal and vertical. The new generation control panel has a microprocessor and it is able to satisfy every requirement. Automatic cleaning system is available on all the series.

  1. 400 DS UV series Disinfection UV units of 400 DS SERIES use low pressure amalgam lamps. Amalgam lamps higher lifespan and efficiency than standard low pressure lamps. Lifespan is around 16.000 hrs and these lamps work perfectly with low and high water temperatures. In this Series of UV system SITA uses powerful lamps that will allow, at the same treated flow rate, the use of less lamps and so on easier maintenance.   1. MC SITAIR UV systems: It’s the series characterized by equipment planned to work autonomously, or to be installed into existing air pipes; in the first case the air flow to be treated is forced by a fan, while in the second one the system is destined to the insertion in a pipe and it does not need a motor for its own. The fields of application of this series are several. One can consider the installation of a SITAIR MC where the presence of aseptic areas and surroundings is requested. In particular disinfection systems can be installed in the following places: waiting rooms, operating rooms, hospital rooms, conditioning systems, food industries, pharmaceutical industries, laboratories, breeding farms.

MQ SITAIR UV systems: It’s the series characterized by ceiling bowls in anodized aluminium, swinging, with a high reflecting power; for this specific application S.I.T.A. can use “shatterproof” UV lamps whose special coating ensures the absence of dispersion of fragments in the case of an accidental breakage of the quartz of the lamps themselves. The direct irradiation allows to disinfect and keep sterilized the exposed surfaces, both of a storage-room and objects and food that must keep sterilized. Disinfecting the food with UV irradiation allows to increase considerably its shelf-life, that is to say that time period which corresponds, in particular circumstances, to a tolerable decreasing of quality of a packed product, so we can treat dried fruits, pre-cooked bread, fresh pasta, charcuterie, cold cuts, grated cheese, sweets and so on.

  1. GEM/S microfiltration Series: With the industrial filters GENOVA series, S.I.T.A. proposes a range of products able to satisfy the most particular requirements. Wholly manufactured in externally/internally polished stainless steel, they result to be resistant to wear and to mechanical stresses generally speaking, un-attachable by sediments, being all the parts in contact with water smooth and without porosity, particularly suitable to the treatment of primary waters. The simple principle on which the water filtering is based, is efficaciously realized with the FILTERS OF GENOVA SERIES. The GEM/S Series is suitable for any standard passing whole DOE cartridges (not included). This series has been created for a cartridges number between 3 and 80.

  1. GE/S microfiltration series: With the industrial filters GENOVA series, S.I.T.A. proposes a range of products able to satisfy the most particular requirements.   1. GE/CS Basket Filtration series: The basket filters (GE/CS models) are constructed in stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316, with internal removable basket with 800 µm. filtering degree. Three different dimensions ensure a range of flow rate from 30 to 90 m3/h. This type of containers is generally used as pre-filtration in the industrial field to filter process waters.

  1. GEM222 microfiltration series: GEM 222 filters are particularly suitable for alimentary uses. The manifold is made by AISI 316L stainless steel while the cartridges, which can be mounted inside, have the E222 OR C3 diameter 45 for alimentary use. Thanks to the presence of O-rings this one guarantees the seal and avoids the stagnation of every fluid. The use of tri-clamp connections, the internal polishing of the body and the particular care in the manufacturing of the welding guarantee a product without any coves, which, as it is known, are areas of stagnation and bacterial proliferation. Cartridges not included.
